MDR (Merchant Discount Rate) is the fee a merchant pays the bank on each card payment. Charge = amount × MDR %, plus 18% GST on that charge. Example: ₹10,000 on a credit card at 1.8% MDR → ₹180 + ₹32.40 GST = ₹212.40, so you receive ₹9,787.60. UPI and RuPay debit card payments to merchants carry zero MDR.
